As Jason and Angies world turns!

So last weekend Jason put together a ride for his off roading club. He put together a ride that left from Mink Creek in Preston, went up the German Dug Way, stopped to have lunch at the Paris ice caves, then went down cowboys prayer into Bloomington Canyon were the whole group took a hike into Bloomington Lake, Jumped off the rope swing, then went back up Cowboys prayer, and finally down the Power Line trail! It was tons of fun, a lot of OH CRAP bar grabbing took place! We had a ton of fun and had an amazing turn out, 21 "rigs" showed up!!

This is a pic of everyone unloading.

German Dug way

Jason loved every minute of it! I ran up Cowboys Prayer just to get pics! Cowboys prayer is about 1/4 of a mile and it took Jason 10 minutes to drive up it. The pics don't really show how steep the trail really is, but I fell 3 times hiking up it. The trail has a lot of boulders but the base is a shell rock so it is really slippery.
Ok so I waited until today to update the blog because I had clinicals and figured why not tell you guys about it. Last week we gave each other shots. We did three each a Intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal, just fancy words for in the muscle, in the fat, and just under the skin. It was fun and now I can totally give everyone their flu shots!! So this week we learned how to start IV's and draw blood ON EACH OTHER!!! So I did fine drawing blood on an older lady that had really small vessels.

The IV was easier than it should have been because my partner was a football player so he had awesome veins! I was also the only one to start an IV. Go Me! So that was the damage I did but its only fair that if you stick someone they get to stick you. So in the room that I was in there were 4 other people. 3 girls and 2 boys. The boys had hoses for veins so they were really easy, but the girls were harder because our veins were deeper and we had to rely more on feel that site which is hard to trust what you feel when you really don't know what to feel for. So 1 of the girls passed out from just 1 stick, she really needs to toughen up and maybe start EATING BREAKFAST before coming to clinicals!! So that left me and the other girl.

I was stuck 4 times to get blood drawn and twice for an IV. I have really tiny deep veins so IVs are hard to stick in me! The guy trying to put my IV in decided he wanted to use the veins in my hand because they were puffed out and he could see them! Needless to say he hit the bone in my right hand, it hurt a lot! then tried my left hand. I was doing fine so I told him try again on my left hand. I tried to get him to hit the cephalic vein which is called the interns vein because it is the easiest to hit. He wouldn't because he couldn't see it even though it was huge when I palpated it and the Procter said it was an awesome one to hit, but whatever! So he gets the needle in and is digging around, I feel him go to deep he backs off and starts digging again. The room was getting really hot and one of the boys refusses to wear BO sauce and after having a needle hit my bone and after 3 minutes of fishing in my hand I wasn't feeling so hot! Thank goodness he gave up opened the door to let some air in! I didn't pass out or anything but am very grateful that I don't have to have that done again without pain medication!! So I came home Jason took one look at all my bruises on my arms and the needle holes and asked me in I have taken up doing drugs!!HAHA very funny Jason!!

  1. Congrats you guys, both on the jeeping and the needles. Awhile back, I had to have some blood work done and I must have had a very brand new nurse. She poked me several times in each arm and my hand and kept saying "wow, your vein keeps on slipping." I told dad about it and he said that she was incompetent and said that he would do any further blood work for me. Now I have two people who can! Hope all is well!
